The Big List Of Dangerous Products

While some of the products appearing on this list are often debated as being safe or otherwise, try to avoid using them to prevent any possibility of injury.

Cedar, Pine or Chlorophyll Bedding: Cause respiratory infections in hamsters if they have allergies, which can be fatal in some instances.

Cages with Wire Flooring: Hamsters can develop foot injuries such as ulcers or scabs and may possibly get stuck.

Rounded Cages: Hamsters cannot navigate in these cages, they get confused with their sense of direction.

Toy Cars/Trains: Never put a hamster in any toys (for humans) like these.

Stringy or Cotton Bedding: Hamsters can choke on this, and it can wrap around limbs and cut off the circulation, which may result in amputation.

Oranges and Other Citrus Fruits: These have citric acid, which kills hamsters.

Might I add that wire wheels are dangerous for their feet too, either buy a solid wheel or put cardboard in-between the rungs.
